For the final sound assignment bank post, I turned away from nature and towards technology. More specifically, transportation. Santiago Chile holds many different forms of public transportation, and this track compiles a few of them for you!
We start off as though entering a bus, as we begin a drive through town. You can hear the wheels rolling against the pavement and the engine revving to keep a consistent speed. That’s when we then switch to the sounds of metro doors opening for us to enter. What awaits is a metro car filled with people… too many people for our liking.
We decide to not take the metro, and we hear the doors slowly close and the voices from inside fade away. Walking back up from the metro, we take the nearby tram instead in order to get to our destination, and we hear the tram’s speaker announcements as we travel through the city.
I really felt myself take a greater storytelling approach on this last assignment, focusing on a beginning, middle and end. To me, this track mimics how to would sound to commute via public transport in Santiago and really puts us in the perspective of an everyday individual traveling through the city.
