Ryan was the last person you’d ever expect to be scouted by a modeling agency. Yet, one fateful afternoon, as they walked around the Spotsylvania Mall, a tall man with a fancy camera approached them.

“Excuse me!” he said, “My name is Manuel, and I work with Travel Magazine.” He proceeded to hand Ryan his card and further explained how he thought that they would be a perfect model for the magazine’s current project. Of course, Ryan was very skeptical of this man, as they were smart enough to know not to accept strange offers from people they’ve never met before. Ryan told Manuel that they’d think about it, and give him a call in the following days. Before they parted ways, they asked him what his project consisted of. “Ah yes,” Manuel responded, “I’m writing a piece on Easter Island. Oh and don’t worry, all expenses are funded by Travel Magazine if you choose to accept.” Easter Island?! Ryan couldn’t believe their ears.

As soon as they got back home, Ryan raced to their parent’s room and begged their mom to keep an open mind as they explained what happened at the mall. Their mom was initially shocked, just as they were, but they reviewed the business card and website Manuel had provided, where everything proved to be legit. Ryan’s mom gave her nod of approval, and so Ryan eagerly called Manuel to accept his offer.
